There are two dental programs offered at Coastal Carolina Community College: Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting.
The Dental Department strives to provide opportunities for dental students to discover their talents and abilities and to achieve individual excellence. The programs provide an environment to support lifelong learning and to develop skills and attitudes that foster the team concept, thus helping students meet the changing needs of today’s world.
Dental Information Sessions
Students interested in applying to a dental program must attend an information session before making an appointment and submitting an application with the academic counselor for the dental programs. See the information sessions page for upcoming dates and times.
The Dental Professionals Club
The Dental Professionals Club was organized in 2008 to increase the team spirit among the dental assisting and hygiene students. Each fall the dental students are encouraged to join. It is through community social and community activities that the students form a bond with each other. In the fall we participate in the Coastal Carolina Community College Health Fair and Club Rush. We also participate in Coastal’s Sealant Promotion and Head Start Days and hold an intra-class competition for the SGA Christmas food drive.
In the fall we usually hold a Halloween and Exam pot-luck luncheon. Each spring we participate as part of the SGA Walk for the Cure and Club Rush. The club will sponsors at least one continuing education program for the students and we have a spring picnic for the families. In February we participate in the Onslow County Veterans’ Stand Down to promote the dental hygiene clinic among the veterans living in our community.
Joining is easy…. just demonstrate interest each fall semester and fill out a form in class. Benefits of membership …… foster total dental team spirit and meet everyone in the dental department.
