Annual Music Scholarship Competition! Application Deadline: May 31, 2023. This event will be held virtually! Record two performances under 8 minutes. Criteria

  • Participant must be a full-time returning student or incoming freshman seeking an Associate in Fine Arts degree in Music at Coastal Carolina Community College.
  • Eligible instruments include voice, piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and classical guitar.
  • Winners must take classes toward completion of the degree in the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters.

Guidelines

  • Participant must perform two contrasting pieces from different style periods in separate recordings.
  • Voice, piano and guitar participants should perform from memory.
  • Total performance under 8 minutes combined.
  • Video recordings must show most of the body.
  • Do not edit or merge multiple performances of the same work into a single video (e.g. via cutting or splicing).
  • Videos should be uploaded to YouTube, then simply Share the link from YouTube in the online application form.
  • Videos need to be “public” or “unlisted”.
  • One form should be used to upload both videos, create separate videos for each performance.
  • Participant should introduce their name and the title of the composition for each piece before performing.

Award

The final decision will be made on June 8, 2023 and will be announced shortly after on the Coastal website. All decisions are final, and winners will be notified within one week.

  • First Place Award: Full tuition for both Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters only. (No financial aid will be awarded for summer terms.).  Financial award will be placed in student’s Coastal account.  No funds will be given directly to student, and student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to receive second semester award.
  • Second Place Award: Half tuition for both Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters only. No financial aid will be awarded for summer terms.
