Music Scholarship Competition

Application Guidelines and Eligibility

Participant must be a full-time returning student or incoming freshman seeking an Associate in Fine Arts degree in Music and Music Education at Coastal Carolina Community College. Eligible instruments include voice, piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and classical guitar. Participant must perform two (2) contrasting pieces from different style periods.Voice, piano and guitar participants should perform from memory. Pieces may be accompanied or unaccompanied (participant must provide their own accompanist or a recorded CD accompaniment). Each performance will be provided 5-8 minutes (to include both pieces). Winners must take classes toward completion of the degree in the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters.

Awards

First Place Award

Full tuition for both Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters only. No financial aid will be awarded for summer terms. Financial award will be placed in student’s Coastal account. No funds will be given directly to student, and student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to receive second semester award.

Second Place Award

Half tuition for both Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters only. No financial aid will be awarded for summer terms. Financial award will be placed in student’s Coastal account. No funds will be given directly to student, and student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to receive second semester award.

All decisions are final, and winners will be notified within one week.

Location and Time

The competition will be held on Friday, May 2, 3:00 p.m. in the Bodenhamer Auditorium in the Fine Arts Building on the Coastal campus.
