Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)

WIOA is a federally-funded program for low income adults and dislocated workers enrolled or wishing to enroll in occupational training through Curriculum or Continuing Education.  These funds may assist with registration fees, textbooks, tools, required supplies, and childcare.

Applicant must be 18 years or older and a US citizen or eligible non-citizen.  To apply, students must complete a WIOA application, assessment tests, and provide eligibility verification.

Golden LEAF Scholars Program

The Golden LEAF Scholars Program – Two-Year Colleges will provide grants of up to $2,250 annually for curriculum students and up to $1000 annually for workforce continuing education students. The scholarships help cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, transportation, childcare and other components of the total cost of attendance for 2022 – 2023 fall, spring, and summer semesters.

SECU Bridge to Career Scholarship

A $500 scholarship is available to current Continuing Education students in need of assistance with educational expenditures.  Eligible students must be an unemployed or underemployed North Carolina resident, enrolled in short-term occupational training that leads to a certificate and is at least 96 hours long. Eligibility verification will be required.
