Additional help for students is offered in three learning labs.

  • The Academic Studies Center is located on the main campus in the Kenneth B. Hurst Continuing Education Building, room 200.
  • The Learning Lab at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune is located in Building 825, room 214.
  • The Learning Lab at MCAS is located in Building AS 213, rooms 201-205.

All labs provide books, videos, instructional handouts, and skills improvement software to assist students with learning needs. Qualified instructors are available to provide assistance with basic skills (math, English, and reading), tutorial assistance for Coastal college courses, preparation for the GED test and Adult High School courses, and strategies for test-taking and study skills.

  • Tutoring is provided as a support service for students at all levels. Students receive individualized instruction on a walk-in basis by self-referral or referral by a classroom instructor.
  • Test monitoring is provided at instructor request to assist students in case of class absence.
  • Assessment testing is provided for program placement and eligibility,  including basic skills (GED and Adult High School), readiness for college placement test (COMPASS), many occupational training classes (nursing assistant, phlebotomy, law enforcement), and tuition assistance determination for military.
  • Instructional materials, including software programs, are provided for targeted instruction to support academic success.
  • Learning lab services are provided at no cost to students and no appointments are necessary. Picture identification and your time are the only things needed for students to take advantage of lab services.
