English as a Second Language offers instructional opportunities for foreign-born adults to both improve conversational English and to gain information and practice for obtaining U.S. citizenship.
Conversational English
Classes provide the opportunity for adults for whom English is their second language to develop communication skills. Instruction includes both written and oral language skills. Classes are offered on the main campus and at many community locations. All books and materials are provided at no cost.
Citizenship
This course is designed to offer adults who are not citizens the opportunity to improve skills in conversational and written English to the proficiency level required to obtain U.S. citizenship. The course includes information for taking the citizenship examination, resources for obtaining official forms for testing, and instruction in U.S. history and government. Students must demonstrate skill readiness prior to enrollment in citizenship classes. Placement evaluation, classes, and materials are provided at no cost.
