If you are not already familiar with computers, one of the biggest hurdles is learning “how to navigate and use” the Internet. Sure, you would like to find out how to get started on the Internet and the World Wide Web, but how do you get past that point?
Our Internet courses are designed to show you what the Internet is and what it can do for you. You will find out about all those oddly named Internet tools such as "ftp." You will learn how e-mail works, and you will discover the capabilities of those web browsers like Netscape and Internet Explorer that you have been hearing about.
Internet Introduction
This course is designed to give the student the competencies to navigate the Internet with a current browser and to send and receive e-mail. It will briefly cover advanced topics relating to the Internet, but only at the end of the course. Additional information on advanced topics will be available in an advanced course (Internet and Beyond) if requested. Prior knowledge of the Windows working environment and personal computer fundamentals is assumed. It is our intent to use the most current technology as developed by the manufacturer and explain the upgrade impact to the student.
Internet & E-Mail Basics
Learn to explore the Internet and communicate with people quickly and easily. You will learn basic Internet and e-mail features, how to access websites and search for information. Also, you’ll learn how to set up an e-mail account. Send, reply, format, and print messages, along with attaching files and accessing your e-mail via the Internet.
Internet & Beyond
This course is designed to introduce students to the many resources available in order to conduct research and communicate with other teachers using the World Wide Web. Students will gain a working knowledge of how to navigate, search, and explore the Internet. Prior knowledge of Windows working environment and personal computer fundamentals is assumed. It is our intent to use the most current technology as developed by the manufacturer and explain the upgrade impact to the students.
