This course will help students prepare to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE). This course teaches you to become a pharmacy technician by making you aware of the responsibilities and duties of a technician, as well as familiarizing you with pharmacy practices and procedures in both retail and institutional settings.
We now offer seated, hybrid, and online classes. Each class is about 100 hours long, covers the same material and uses the same textbook; the only difference is the method of instruction.
- Seated: All class material delivered on campus. Class meets 2 nights a week for 3 hours each night.
- Hybrid: Class material delivered half online, half on campus. You can save gas money while your online pharmacist instructor guides you through the material needed to excel and pass the national certification exam from the convenience of your own home. Then, come to campus 2 nights a week for 2 hours each night (every other week only) for personal assistance with the math involved in pharmaceutical dosage calculations.
- Online: No trips to campus required. All class material delivered online. Requirements for online class: -reliable connection to the internet to access Blackboard -PowerPoint viewer (free download available-link provided in class) -Adobe reader for pdf files (free download available-link provided in class) -CD reader to view/play CD-ROM that comes with the text -basic word processing (like Word or Notepad)
