The Division of Continuing Education at Coastal Carolina Community College offers courses that are approved through the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Certification Board (NCSAPCB).
The certification process requires instructional training hours that Coastal provides. It also requires on-the-job experience, not available at Coastal. Students cannot become certified by enrolling in Coastal courses only.
These Coastal courses are beneficial for individuals who are seeking entrance into the substance abuse counseling field, currently employed counselors who need the training hours for certification or re-certification, and family members of people in recovery who are seeking information.
Because certification requirements are subject to change by the NCSAPCB, Coastal provides general information regarding certification requirements. For specific information about state certification, contact the NCSAPCB.
