Experienced Rider Course

This one day course will help hone riding skills and fine-tune the mental skills needed to survive in today's traffic conditions. Most of the course is conducted on the motorcycle range. Passengers are allowed and encouraged if you ride two-up frequently.

You will discuss with your peers how to balance the mental and physical aspects of riding, manage risk, increase visibility, and optimize your lane position.

There will be a riding skill evaluation at the end of the day. You also take a 20-question written exam. If you possess a motorcycle learner's permit you will earn a NC DMV waiver card that will exempt you from the riding portion of the DMV licensing requirements.

Prerequisites

  • Have a motorcycle learner's permit or motorcycle endorsement on your license
  • Provide a street legal motorcycle and pass a MSF safety inspection by the instructor (loaners accepted with written authority)
  • Provide proof of current registration and insurance
  • Parental permission for students between 16 and 18 years of age (a parent must be present to sign waiver form)
  • Complete waiver form
  • Have six months or 3,000 miles of riding experience
  • Wear the proper protective gear:
    • Helmet
    • Eye protection
    • Full-fingered gloves
    • Long sleeve shirt
    • Long pants
    • Over-the-ankle footwear
