Students completing our initial courses will be qualified to test for the North Carolina and/or National Registry credentials.
Course
This course will follow the guidelines established by the NC Office of EMS. The curriculum for the EMT-Paramedic educational program shall be the 1998 Release of the United States Department of Transportation (US DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) EMT-Paramedic Course: National Standard Curriculum.
Prerequisites
- NC EMT Credential
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
- TABE test for basic reading comprehension and English language writing skills at a minimum of 12.1 or higher
- TABE test for mathematical skills at a minimum 9.1
- Anatomy and Physiology
Hours
- This 1100-hour course is divided into to five modules and covers approximately 20 months.
- Modules 1-3 (200 hours each) are classroom and meet 2 nights a week (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday), 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm, for 20 weeks; some Saturdays and Sundays are involved that meet 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
- Module 4 (200 hours clinical) and Module 5 (300 hours internship) will meet at varied times and days.

Module 3:
- AHA: Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Manual
- Jones and Bartlett: Pediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Providers
Module 4 & 5:
- No additional books are required.
