Coastal Carolina Community College’s Music Department will host a music competition for full-time returning and prospective new students seeking an Associate in Fine Arts Degree in Music and Music Education, Friday, May 13, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Bodenhamer Auditorium on the Coastal campus.
Application guidelines and eligibility
- Participants must be full-time returning students, or incoming freshmen, seeking an Associate in Fine Arts degree in Music and Music Education at Coastal Carolina Community College.
- Eligible instruments include voice, piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, and classical guitar.

Performance Guidelines
- Memorization is required if you are performing on piano, classical guitar, or voice. Music is allowed for other instruments.
- Participants must perform two contrasting pieces, preferably from different style periods.
- Each participant will be provided with 5-8 minutes to include both pieces.
- Pieces may be accompanied or unaccompanied. Participants must bring their own accompanist or a recorded CD accompaniment.
Awards
- First place award will be full tuition for Fall and Spring semesters only. No financial aid will be awarded for summer terms. The financial award will be placed in the student’s Coastal account. No funds will be given directly to the student. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in the Fall semester to receive the Spring semester award.
- Second place award will be half tuition for Fall and Spring semesters only. No financial aid will be awarded for summer terms. The financial award will be placed in the student’s Coastal account. No funds will be given directly to the student. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in the Fall semester to receive the second semester award.
- All decisions are final and winners will be notified by mail within one week of the competition.

- The competition will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 3:00 p.m. in the Bodenhamer Auditorium on the Coastal campus.
