North Carolina Teacher’s & State Major Medical Plan
Coastal offers its employees the opportunity to participate in the State Major Medical Plan at no cost to employees. If you wish to add your dependents, then you may do so at your own expense. The network of physicians is quite extensive.

MetLife Dental Plan
Coastal offers Dental Insurance through MetLife. The College pays for employee only coverage and you may add your dependents at your own expense. We offer employee only, employee plus spouse, employee plus child/children and employee family coverage. For additional information on the plan, please call 1-800-275-4638.
OptiCare
Coastal offers Vision insurance through OptiCare. This is an optional insurance plan where the employee pays the entire premium. If you are covered and have questions, go to www.opticare.com. You may print a copy of your identification card and get information on the coverage that you have.
If you would like to enroll and have a qualifying event such as birth, death of a dependent, marriage or divorce, please call the Personnel Office at (910) 938-6777 otherwise you will have to wait for annual enrollment which occurs annually.
AFLAC
Coastal offers AFLAC supplemental products that include Accident, Sickness, Disability, Hospital Confinement, Life Insurance and other products. Enrollment is optional. If you have questions about your existing policy or would like to enroll in a product, call Jerry Creech at (252) 636-3633, or visit www.aflac.com.
Section 125 Cafeteria Plan Brokers
The Pierce Group
Coastal offers Colonial Life supplemental products through the Pierce Group that houses our cafeteria 125 plan. There supplemental benefits include Accident, Sickness, Disability, Hospital Confinement, Life Insurance and other products. Enrollment is optional. NC 401(k) Plan
An additional Retirement Option is available to full-time and permanent part-time employees called the 401(k) plan. Employees can enroll at any time with as little as $20.00 per month deducted from their paycheck. See anyone in the Personnel Office or call 1-866-624-0151.
North Carolina State Retirement System
As a full-time or permanent part-time employee, you are required to participate in the North Carolina State Retirement System. 6% of your pay each month is deducted and set aside in a account for you at the Retirement System. You may not withdraw these funds unless you: Retire, leave employment or upon your death your beneficiary will receive your funds. This is a retirement fund and it currently pays 4% interest annually.
