Pell Grant Critical Deadlines

  • Ten-day Signing Deadline — You must return your completed Pell Grant Award Agreement within ten (10) days of receipt of the offer for financial aid for the 2011-2012 academic year. Failure to return the agreement will delay your cost of living check and will prohibit you from charging your books in our College Store.
  • New for this Year!
    The Signed Copy of your registration form cannot be signed by your instructor or submitted to the Financial Aid Office until you have attended or logged into your class on or after January 12, 2012.
  • Spring Session Registration Form Deadline 5:00 PM Friday, January 27, 2012 – The white copy of your registration form (schedule), with your instructor's initials, must be turned in to the Admissions Receptionist in Student Services. Then sign the log book.

Critical Information

  • 2nd Session Classes — Pell will only pay for classes that have started attendance. 2nd session classes will not be included in your total credit hours until they start and you have verified attendance. Your Pell check may be reduced until 2nd session starts.
  • Clock Hour Converted Programs — If you are in a program of study that is one year or less in length, your program may be subject to the clock hour conversion rule in which your financial aid may be reduced. Please check with your financial aid counselor for programs that are clock hour converted. Cosmetology , Cosmetology Instructor and BLET will be paid at the ½ point and the end of the semester.
  • Return to Title IV — If you are withdrawn or dropped from all classes for the semester, or a first, second, or 12 week session modules, you may have to return the unearned portion of the financial aid funds to the federal government. Please see your financial aid counselor for calculations.
  • SAP — To remain eligible for financial aid, you must complete 67% of coursework attempted each semester and maintain a 2.0 GPA.

Verify Attendance

Federal regulations require that your attendance in each class be verified.
For the 2nd 8 week session, verification of attendance must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM Friday, March 30, 2012.

Traditional Classes

Have your instructors’ initial their class listed on the white copy of your registration form. Once you have all your instructor’s initials for your classes, bring the white copy to the Admissions Office Receptionist where you will turn it in and sign a log book

On-line Classes

See the instructions on the Steps to Follow for On-Line Classes document.  Attach the on-line printout(s) to the white copy of your registration form. If you login after the first five (5) days of class, log to Blackboard, sign in to your on-line class, click course documents, click Pell Grant verification, take survey, print copy, and click submit. Bring your white copy, with on-line printout(s), to the Admissions Office Receptionist where you will turn it in and sign a logbook. If you are unable to bring your online class printouts to the Admissions Receptionists, please mail them to: Financial Aid, Coastal Carolina Community College, 444 Western Boulevard, Jacksonville, NC 28546.

DISTRIBUTION OF YOUR PELL GRANT

Charging My Books and Supplies

You may charge your books and supplies in the College Store. The dates for doing this will be given to you by the Financial Aid Office when appropriate.

Spring 2012: You may charge your books and supplies in the College Store beginning Wednesday, January 3, 2012 through close of business on Friday, January 27, 2012.

Cost of Living Check

Each semester, after we subtract your tuition, student fee, books and supplies from your semester award, the balance is provided to you and is called your Cost of Living check. The check will be mailed to you. It is your responsibility to ensure that the Admissions Office has a current mailing address.

Spring 2012: The checks will be mailed from the Cashier in the Business Office on or about Friday, February 17, 2012.

If you receive your Pell Grant Award package (Notification letter, Pell Grant Award Information Sheet, and Pell Grant Award Agreement) from the Financial Aid Office at CCCC after the first day of class, the Information for Pell Students Handout will be enclosure (3) to the notification letter and will contain specific instructions, including when you can expect your cost of living check.

If you have a balance in your semester Pell Grant account after all charges have been subtracted, you will be issued a cost of living check. The checks will be mailed from the Cashier in the Business Office.

FEDERAL WORK-STUDY PROGRAM

If you are interested in a part-time position that works around your class schedule, ask the Admissions Office Receptionist or any Financial Aid professional for a federal work-study application.
