Deadline Guidelines for FAFSA 2014—2015

  • Fall Semester — June 1
  • Spring Semester — October 1
  • Summer Semesters — March 15

In order for students to obtain federal financial aid through FAFSA to pay tuition and textbooks for current semester, the deadlines listed should be used as a guideline. Students can continue to apply for FAFSA after these dates, however, the financial aid may not be processed in time to pay the current semester’s tuition and textbooks. Students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA application at any time during the academic year.

How to Apply

  1. Apply for Admissions
    The first step is applying for admission to Coastal Carolina. Please contact the Admissions Office at 910-938-6394 for the application procedure or go to the Admissions Office Monday – Thursday from 7:45 am to 7:30 pm or Friday 7:45 am to 5:00 pm.
  2. Apply for Your PIN
    Apply for your Personal Identification Number at www.pin.ed.gov. If you’re a dependent student, a parent should also apply for a PIN so that they can electronically sign your FAFSA. Your PIN can be used to sign your FAFSA on the web electronically, review and correct answers on your FAFSA, and reapply for student aid every year you are in school. Your PIN does not expire, so do not share it with anyone.
  3. Apply for Financial Aid
    To receive financial aid, a student must apply for a federal Pell Grant by having a Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the United States Department of Education (DOE) that demonstrates the student’s financial need.

Log onto www.fafsa.gov and click “Start Here” in the center of the screen. Select 2014-15 FAFSA. Complete the entire application using your 2013 Federal taxes, W2s, and other financial information and the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. Coastal’s federal school code is: 005316.

After completing all information, click “Next” on the bottom of page until you see “Submit My FAFSA Now.” When shown, select this option and you will receive a confirmation page. Coastal will contact you via your Coastal email in regards to your FAFSA, typically within 7-10 business days.

A student must submit a new FAFSA application prior to each academic year. The FAFSA will provide specific information regarding dates (month, day, and year) for federal and state financial aid. The student must be fully admitted to a Pell eligible degree, diploma, or certificate program of study (curriculum), not owe a refund on a grant or be in default of a student loan, and must maintain satisfactory academic progress as required by the College. Financial aid is not available for audited courses, credit by examination courses, courses for which transfer credit has been granted, or courses not in the student’s designated curriculum, except required remedial courses not to exceed thirty (30) hours.
