New Student Experience Team

Faculty Navigators

Ashley Berdeau

Ashley Berdeau is an Instructor in the Arts and Humanities Department. Before joining Coastal, she gained invaluable experience as a teacher in the public school system, teaching high school visual arts and journalism. She enjoyed her advance level and AP courses that allowed her students to transition into college, not only with first-hand experience, but also with credits. She received her Bachelor of Arts Education and Master of Art Education at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. As a first-generation college student herself, she understands how navigating the college experience can be. Growing up in a military family she understands the dynamics of moving and deployments. Outside of school, she and her family are avid travelers which touches on her personal philosophy that education is about exploring all your options and not every college experience looks the same.

Tony Jackson

Professor Tony Jackson works in the Fine Arts department as an adjunct in art appreciation and occasionally studio arts.   He is an active member of the fine arts community and has had many shows since being in the local area.   He earned his AFA at coastal before joining the military.   His unique experience of being a student of the college and prior military service is put to use in helping students reach their goals.

Kimberly McCart

Kimberly McCart is an instructor in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department, and teaches American and World History classes. She also teaches ACA 122 classes. She has been teaching for Coastal Carolina Community College for the last 15 years on a part time basis. She retired from the state of North Carolina in 2015, where she worked for almost 28 years as a probation/parole officer. She began her college career at a North Carolina Community College, so they have always held a special place in her heart. She transferred to North Carolina State University and earned BA’s in History and Political Science. After graduation, she went to  Appalachian State University, where she earned a MA in History, with a minor in Adult Education. Mrs. McCart is married, loves spending time with her 3 Yorkies, and 4 granddaughters.

Crystal Morris

Crystal Morris has taught Developmental Math and College Student Success classes. She received her BS in Atmospheric Science from UNC-Asheville along with a minor in Math. She also recently completed the Architectural Technology program here at CCCC. She is a retired military spouse and baseball mom. This is her 4th year as a Faculty Navigator with the New Student Experience.
