What is like to be deaf? It’s more than not being able to hear. For many, being deaf means membership in a close-knit supportive community, based on a rich history and a beautiful language.
BEGINNING 42 hours $125.00 (Ins. $1.00)
Learn American Sign Language and about the deaf community. You will learn how to introduce yourself, form questions, exchange information and begin to apply receptive and expressive signing. Describe your surroundings, your family and about the community where you live. Gain information regarding the basic laws affecting the deaf community. An introduction to the profession of interpreting with career options and deaf education will be presented.

INTERMEDIATE 42 hours $125.00 (Ins. $1.00)
This is a continuation of the Beginning ASL. It will cover more vocabulary and situational signing experiences.
Conversational phrases will be utilized throughout the class and the last class will involve a conversational activity. This is an outstanding class to determine if you would like to pursue a career in sign language.

Prerequisite: ASL Beginning
ENHANCED (NEW) 24 hours $70.00 (Ins. $1.00)
This bridging ASL language immersion course will help students to preserve and foster ASL skills to sustain concepts covered in the Beginning ASL class. Students will continue to practice receptive signing styles and techniques, strengthen ASL skill sets, and interface with Deaf leaders to gain confidence to communicate with the deaf community.
June 6 – August 1 Thursdays 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Prerequisite: ASL Beginning
ADVANCED 50 hours $125.00 (Ins. $1.00)
ASL Advanced is designed to have the learner demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of advanced language techniques to include vocabulary, conversational dialogues, hand-shape stories, cheers, songs, poetry, storytelling and legends. This course will demonstrate grammatical correctness of ASL in contrast to conversational signing.
