The Alpha Tau Rho Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) researched COVID-10 and the effects it has had on the mental health of children, specifically children who are in the age range of 5-12. For their Honors In Action (HIA) project, PTK members reached out to students, staff, and faculty of Coastal Carolina Community College to nominate children they believed would benefit from a care package that was put together by PTK. Items in the care package included chalk, teddy bears, hand sanitizer, markers, crayons, coloring books, and a hand-written note from a PTK member.
Alpha Tau Rho chapter goal was 35 children, and much to their surprise, they received 52 applications from our Coastal family.
