Basic Life Support (BLS)

This course provides the knowledge and skills to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and foreign body airway obstruction maneuvers in adults, children, and infants, to include 2-person CPR, in accordance with the American Heart Association (AHA).  This course leads to AHA certification.  This course is 8 hours in length and is scheduled monthly.  A textbook is required.  See the Public Safety Training section of the Continuing Education Schedule of Classes for details about upcoming classes.

Heartcode BLS

This is a 3-hour skills only session of the American Heart Association Heartcode BLS Healthcare Provider Online course.  Registrants MUST complete the online portion and provide a copy of the completion certificate upon registration and to the instructor on the day of class.  See the Public Safety Training section of the Continuing Education Schedule of Classes for details about upcoming classes.

Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED

This course is designed to teach the general public how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid, and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).  Modules for adults, infants, and children are available.  This course is 6-8 hours in length.  A textbook is required.  See the Public Safety Training section of the Continuing Education Schedule of Classes for details about upcoming classes.

K-12 Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED

This course is designed to teach school system employees how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid, and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).  Modules for adults, infants, and children are available.  This course is 5-6 hours in length.  See the Public Safety Training section of the Continuing Education Schedule of Classes for details about upcoming classes.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

This course is designed to teach the student how to perform the rapid cardiopulmonary assessment on a pediatric patient and to form treatment plans based upon the findings.  This class will cover dysrhythmias, pharmacology, and electrical therapy in dealing with cardiac patients, as well as treatments for shock and respiratory distress/failure in the pediatric patient.

Upon successful completion of this class, students will receive the American Heart Association’s PALS Certification.  This course is designed for advanced healthcare providers such as doctors, nurses, and paramedics. Heartcode Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

This is a 4-hour skills only session of the American Heart Association Heartcode Pediatric Advanced Life Support Online course.  The cost of the required AHA online course is the responsibility of the student and is separate from the skills session registration fee.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

This course is designed to teach the student how to manage the first 10 minutes of an adult patient in cardiac arrest.  This class will cover dysrhythmias, pharmacology, and electrical therapy in dealing with cardiac patients.  Upon successful completion of this class, students will receive the American Heart Association’s ACLS Certification.
