Dual Enrollment (Career and College Promise) Steps for Admission

Welcome!

To apply to Coastal Carolina Community College as a Career and College Promise (Dual Enrollment) student, you must meet the following criteria and complete the following steps.  We’re here to help you along the way!  Contact one of our College Liaisons with specific questions.  We look forward to helping you enroll.

Criteria
  1. Be a high school junior or senior.
  2. Have permission from parents, high school counselor, and principal.
  3. Meet academic criteria:
    1. Have a 2.8 unweighted GPA or higher on high school courses OR
    2. Demonstrate college readiness in English, reading, and mathematics on one of the following approved assessments

For Continuing Education courses, students may request the recommendation of the high school principal with a rationale to waive the GPA/assessment score requirement.

Step 1  |  Complete Key Components of the Application

  1. Complete the Student Information and Medical Information Sections.
  2. Complete the College Readiness Verification Section.
    • Write in your current unweighted high school GPA (must be a 2.8 or higher) and attach a copy of your transcript. An updated transcript must be submitted each semester.
    • If your GPA is below a 2.8, write in all qualifying assessment scores and attach a copy of each set of scores.
    • Select the semester. Students must complete a new application for each semester.
    • Write in high school release times for each semester.
    • Select a Pathway (Returning students may not change pathways without written permission).
    • Write in your career goal.
    • Select courses you wish to take.  Courses must be in your chosen pathway.

Steps may vary for students who are interested in CTE or Continuing Education Pathways. See application for details.

Step 2  |  Meet with Your High School Counselor

  • Meet with your High School Counselor to review your plan and get signatures.

Step 3  |  Return your Completed Application to a College Liaison or Coastal's Admissions Office

  • If necessary, take Coastal's placement test.  See a College Liaison for instructions.

Step 4  |  Enroll in Classes

  • Go to Coastal's Admissions Office to enroll in approved classes on date determined. Contact a College Liaison for specific dates.
  • Get a Coastal Student ID and parking placard, purchase your textbooks, and mark your calendar for the first day of class.
  • Please Note: Some courses require digital course material in lieu of a physical text book. This is explained in the “Inclusive Access” handout provided to you from your College Liaison. The cost for this material will be listed on your printed schedule or may be found in Self-Service. All associated costs must be paid to the Coastal's Accounting Office (910-938-6217) prior to the start of classes in order to maintain your schedule. If you choose, you will be able to purchase a loose-leaf copy of the textbook in the College Store at a discounted rate, since you are already participating in Inclusive Access.
