Powerline Technician Program

This 16-week program prepares individuals with the necessary skills for employment in various electrical utility industries. Course topics will focus on the fundamentals of line construction to include: Electrical Theory, overhead and underground line work, vehicle set-up and operation, transformer wiring and configuration, meter applications, and safe work practices. Student safety and teamwork will be emphasized throughout the course along with other rules and regulations applicable to the industry.

Pre-requisites that must be provided at the time of registration:

1) Must be 18 years of age

2) Weight restrictions are limited to 275 lbs.

3) DOT physical and drug test

4) DMV driving history

5) Valid NC Driver License

556 hours (Classroom and Field Instruction)

Amount due at time of registration:

$362.00 includes registration for Powerline Technician I and II

$50.00 for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) materials to be given to students during class.  PPE items include Hard Hat, Gloves, Eyewear, OSHA card and Flagger Book

Items that students need to purchase prior to first day of class:

$81.00 plus tax Textbook

$175.00 Lineman work boots (prices may vary based on individual’s preference)
$60.00 Class A CDL permit DMV office (NCDMV/NCDOT controlled)

DOT physical and drug test (Prices vary per facility and insurance)
