Registering for Classes
The registrar’s office is responsible for student registration, maintaining student records, maintaining faculty class rolls and attendance rosters, and approving students for graduation. This office also maintains evaluation of transfer credits from other institutions (providing these credits are applicable toward the graduation requirements of Coastal Carolina Community College).
Other services available through the registrar’s office include adding or dropping courses, withdrawing from the college, changing name and address, and requesting transcripts. Forms available to the student include registration cards (drop/add), withdrawal forms, transcript request, request to change catalogs (changing from current program of study requirements to another), change of name and/or address, transient study request, letters for verification of attendance, independent study, audit, and challenge forms
To register for classes, you must first meet admission requirements. First-time and returning students will initially meet with an academic counselor to complete the admissions or re-admissions process. Depending on the time period, the student may register with the academic counselor or the student will receive information about when they must return in order to get registered. (See Admissions for specific requirements.)
All students must register at the beginning of each semester of attendance. No credit can be granted for courses in which the student is not properly registered. Students may not register for duplicate sections of the same course in any given semester. Students cannot attend a class for which they are not officially registered.
Registration Dates & Times
Current students will receive a registration card in the mail and will register on selected days prior to the start of the semester. See an Academic Counselor for registration assistance, if needed, prior to registration. New and returning students, upon being accepted by an Academic Counselor, will be given a registration card with the registration date and time or will be given further information about registration. Registration dates are listed each semester in Coastal Carolina’s OnCourse Schedule (see the Catalogs, Schedules, and Handbook section).
