The Academic Studies Center (ASC) is an important adjunct to Coastal’s instructional program. As both a tutorial lab and testing center, qualified instructors are available to tutor College and Career Readiness and Continuing Education students in reading, writing, and math at basic and intermediate levels in the lab environment. Student learning is also enhanced through the use of up-to-date software programs in the computer lab. Children, cell phones, food and drinks are not allowed in the Academic Studies Center.

The ASC also houses a testing center for those students who need to test for placement into a Continuing Education or College and Career Readiness program and for those who need to make up a missed test for a curriculum class. CCCC student IDs/photo ID are required for curriculum make-up testing. Curriculum make-up testing may occur any time the Academic Studies Center is open.

Located in the Kenneth B. Hurst Continuing Education Building, room 200, the Center is open Monday through Friday.

Tutoring Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Testing Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Appointments are not necessary as students are seen on a first come, first serve basis. Fees are required only for individual proctored testing ordered by outside agencies, which must be scheduled through the College and Career Readiness office, (910) 938-6259.
